Apple Podcast Subscriptions delayed into June

In April, Apple announced that its update to its Podcasts app would freshen things up for both listeners and creators alike. The new “Podcast Subscriptions” service allows listeners to sign up for freemium or paid podcast shows as posted by creators.

In an email sent to creators, and a statement to The Verge, Apple acknowledges that some of the changes it made weren’t well received and is taking feedback from iOS 14.6 into account for a future update. It also plans to update the ‘Library’ interface of the Podcasts app “in the coming weeks”. In addition, some creators were experiencing issues with content being uploaded by creators through its Apple Podcasts Connect portal.

As a result of these changes, Apple decides that it should delay the launch of its Podcast Subscriptions platform until June “to ensure [Apple] is delivering the best experience for creators and listeners”.
